A Ballistic Coefficient (BC) is the most common term used to reference the efficiency of a given bullet.  Efficiency in a general sense is how easily the projectile moves through the air (Nerd Alert:  Air is a fluid and its fluid properties significantly impact bullet trajectories).  This has special consideration as the distance between the shooter and the target increases.  Air friction causes the bullet to slow down considerably during the first 1 second of flight time.  This decreases the energy/velocity of bullet and allows gravity to pull the bullet towards the earth’s surface (bullet drop).  Increasing the bullet’s efficiency reduces bullet drop, wind drift, and flight time to target.  EAB is now offering reduced flight times to all targets!

Bullet stability is among the least understood areas of external ballistics.  All bullets are “spin stabilized”, this is especially true at supersonic velocities.  Stability, or stable flight, is imperative to achieve predictable trajectories.  The accepted rules of stability have been based on empirical data and correlations developed over large data sets.  The new age of multi-component bullet designs enables advancements in bullet stability that were previously viewed as impossible.  Long-for-caliber bullets require fast-twist barrels to adequately stabilize due to the forces imposed on the bullet during flight.  These forces can be altered or reduced utilizing the patented technology of EAB.

Almost all centerfire rifle bullets exit the muzzle at supersonic velocities, meaning the bullet is traveling faster than the speed of sound which is 1125 ft/sec at standard air conditions.  As the distance to target increases, the bullet velocity can decrease to the point where it is traveling slower than the speed of sound “subsonic”.  The area where the bullet transitions from a supersonic velocity to a subsonic velocity is referred to as the “Transonic Zone”, sonic transition.  The bullet experiences forces, or rather a change of force dynamic, as it makes this transition.  The sound wave created by the bullet catches up it.  

So just put a suppressor on my rifle?
